Granville Oil & Chemicals has announced a significant expansion of its South Yorkshire production facility with the successful installation of three brand-new oil storage tanks. This latest infrastructure project serves as a clear indicator of the company’s ongoing growth and its long-term strategy of reinvestment.
The installation marks a major milestone for the Goldthorpe-based manufacturer, further solidifying its position as a resilient leader in the UK automotive lubricant and chemical sector.

The scale of Granville’s latest investment was on full display as three 21-metre-tall tanks arrived on-site. Executed with surgical precision by a team of highly trained engineers, the tanks—each weighing a massive 30 tonnes—were expertly navigated into their permanent foundations. This afternoon-long operation represents a major physical expansion of the tank farm, providing the structural backbone for Granville's future production targets.
The addition of these three high-capacity tanks represents a substantial boost to the site’s raw material storage. This expansion is designed to streamline production and insulate the business against global supply chain fluctuations:
Significant Volume: Each new tank provides an additional 225,000L of storage for high-quality base oils.
Total Footprint: The project adds a combined 775,000L of capacity to the Granville tank farm.
Supply Security: By increasing on-site stockholding, Granville is better positioned to maintain consistent production levels, ensuring a reliable supply for customers regardless of market volatility.
While many industry players have moved toward "just-in-time" inventory models, Granville’s decision to invest in physical infrastructure highlights a commitment to stability.

This tank farm upgrade is the latest in a series of strategic moves by Granville to modernise its operations. It follows a successful brand refresh in 2023 and the continued expansion of its specialised Gold Range and FS-RN engine oils.
By blending all products on-site at its ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accredited factory, Granville maintains rigorous control over quality. These new tanks ensure that the finest quality base oils are always available to meet the growing domestic and international demand for the Granville brand.
